Prior of using your new sea sponge
Before incorporating your newly acquired natural sea sponge into your bathing routine, you may want to first clean it. For the first time using your sea sponge, ensure to moisten it under warm running water to soften its texture. Sea sponges are stiff when dry, but very soft when wet. Due to their marine origin, it's advisable to inspect the sponge thoroughly before its first use. Carefully check for any particles that might have come from its natural habitat, such as sea sand or sea debris, finally, allow the sponge to air dry completely.
All Kereso sea sponges pass strict multiple quality checks to remove any sea debris that may be found in our sponges
Note : Caution should be exercised when considering sea sponges sold at unusually low prices. A genuine natural sea sponge typically comes with a higher price tag due to the risks associated with harvesting, its rarity, and the demanding processing, selection, and sorting processes involved. Suspiciously low prices may signal compromised quality, inadequate processing, and potentially reduced durability. It's advisable to prioritize purchasing a high-quality sea sponge to ensure reliability, as low prices may signify inferior quality and unsustainable harvesting practices.

Periodic care for your sea sponge.
Every few weeks or months, depending on the use , your sea sponge may ask for a deep cleanse and disinfection.
Prepare a solution consisting of 5 parts water and one part white vinegar. Submerge the sponge in this solution for 30 minutes. Vinegar, or acetic acid, acts as a potent mycobactericidal disinfectant, capable of eliminating bacteria. While any vinegar can suffice, white wine vinegar is recommended due to its milder scent. Soak your sea sponge thoroughly in the solution. You may need to use more vinegar and water depending on the size of your sponge, just make sure the ratio of vinegar to water does not change. Leave the sea sponge in the solution for 30 minutes, then rinse and leave it to dry.
Another way to for eliminating any dirt and grime of your sea sponges is by soaking the sponge in a baking soda and water solution. Baking soda excels at dissolving dirt and grease in water and serves as an alkaline cleaner, neutralizing acidic molecules that contribute to unpleasant odours. Mix one tablespoon of baking soda for every cup of warm water you use to soak the sea sponge, just make sure the ratio of baking soda to water does not change. Submerge the sponge in this solution, ensuring it's thoroughly soaked and squeezed multiple times to allow the baking soda solution to penetrate all areas. Leave the sponge in the solution for 30 minutes, then rinse it thoroughly to remove any residual baking soda solution before allowing it to air dry.
Note: Refrain from prolonged soaking in the mixture to prevent weakening the sponge's strength.
